 ARRIVING BY PLANE

John Paul II Krakow-Balice Airport is modern and easy to navigate. There is a 24hr currency exchange office and ATMs (bankomat) provided by PKO bank as well as tourist information. There is also the Katowice-Pyrzowice Airport which is located approximately 100km from the Kraków city centre.

How to get to the City Centre from the Krakow-Balice Airport? 

TRANSFER BY PRIVATE CAR
JORDAN Congress Bureau provides transport services (passenger cars with an English speaking driver, minibuses, and coaches) for individual guests and groups to/from the airport or railway station to hotels. TRAIN
The new Kraków Airport train station is located near the passenger terminal, at the rear of the multi-storey car parking structure. Travelling by train is the fastest way to get from the airport to the city center (the journey takes about 18 minutes, in total). The trains are equipped with air conditioning, power outlets, Wi-Fi, and ticket machines. All trains also have spaces for disabled passengers and those people with reduced mobility (PRM). PUBLIC TRANSPORT

The buses terminate at the main railway station EAST (Dworzec Główny Wschód), which is located in the city centre. The journey takes around 40-45 minutes. Krakow-Balice Airport is located in zone I+II Aglomeration (one way ticket price in zone I+II Aglomeration: 4,- PLN). We reccomend using the bus connection browser.

 

 ARRIVING BY TRAIN

The Main Railway Station (Dworzec Główny) is conveniently situated in the center of the city. There is an easy train connection between Warszawa and Kraków (express or Inter-City trains operate every hour during the day, the journey lasts less than 3hr). Kraków has direct connections with: Berlin, Bucharest, Budapest, Kiev, Odessa, Prague, Vienna. You will find a taxi stand outside of the main entrance as well as at the top floor car parking structure. Local train connections are available here.

 ARRIVING BY BUS

The Regional Bus Station (MDA - Malopolski Dworzec Autobusowy) is located in the city centre, and it neighbours the Central Railway Station. The buses of the national and regional transport depart from the stations at Wita Stwosza Square or Cystersow Street 15, while the regular international buses depart from Wita Stwosza Square.  ARRIVING BY CAR

Kraków is located 300 km south of Warsaw. The A4 motorway, via Wroclaw and Katowice, leads to Kraków from Western Europe. The speed limit in Poland is generally 50km/hr in cities (60km/hr between 23:00 and 05:00), 90km/hr outside urban areas, 120km/hr on dual carriageways and 140km/hr on motorways. All cars must have their headlights switched on at all times and carry a red warning triangle, first aid kit, replacement bulbs, a national identity sticker, and proper registration and insurance documents.

Traffic restriction zones (P1 - P6) are obligatory in the city from Monday to Friday, 10.00 am - 8.00 pm. The conference venue is located in the city center, outside parking paid zones. It is necessary to pay parking fees within paid zones (first hour: 3,- PLN; second hour: 3,50 PLN; third hour: 4,10 PLN; every next hour: 3,- PLN). Parking cars in these zones without payment of parking fees is prohibited, except in the case of vehicles belonging to persons or organizations granted free access and parking public transportation vehicles in designated area. Parking is permitted only in designed areas. Absolute priority is given to pedestrians, and the maximum driving speed should not exceed 20km/h. You can find more details here. We strongly suggest leaving your car in the hotel parking structure/lot and to use public transportation or walk.

CURRENCY
The Polish currency unit is zloty (PLN), divided into 100 groszy. Current exchange rate on: www.nbp.pl

Most foreign currencies can be easily exchange either in banks or in private exchange offices (“kantor”). Foreign currency (cash) is not acceptable in shops.

 

SHOPS
The common opening hours are 10.00 am  – 7.00 pm Monday to Friday.
​​​​​​On Saturdays shops are mostly closed at 2 pm and are closed on Sundays except for big shopping centres which are opened 10.00 am - 8.00 pm.​​​​​
Payment in shops: by cash (Polish money, some accept €) or credit cards.

CREDIT CARDS
Credit cards accepted in Poland: Visa, MasterCard, American Express. Cash withdrawal machines, restaurants, car rental agencies and most shops accept all major credit cards.

POST OFFICES
Post offices are open Monday to Friday 8.00 am – 4.00 pm and closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Post boxes are red and post is usually collected twice daily. Stamps can be bought only at post offices.

Banks are open Monday to Friday 8.00 am – 6.00 pm and are closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
